Congratulations to Year 9 Student and Leeds Athletic netballer Niamh, who was victorious at this year’s U14 Netball National Clubs Final. The finals were played at the EIS in Sheffield across the weekend of 25 and 26 May. Niamh and her Yorkshire-based team won four games from four on day one of the finals, winning against Charnwood and Oaksway, whilst recording the third-highest goal average of the stage in the process.

Leeds Athletics’ road to the finals continued and included coming up against tough opposition such as Oldham, CD Phoenix and Essex and eventually coming out on top with a 26-21 victory over reigning champions Kingsway Power, and winning a historic first national final.

Mrs Chapman, netball coach at Hulme said “Everyone at Hulme is incredibly proud of Niamh and this fantastic achievement. She is very dedicated and committed to netball both in school and for her club and it is amazing to see her hard work pay off. She is a very versatile player, covering several positions all over the court and always willing to help her teammates.”

As well as juggling club netball alongside school fixtures and training, Niamh also puts her netball expertise into practice by teaching our younger students netball skills.

Niamh has played for Leeds Athletic for over 2 years and plays mid-court in the centre position. She also plays netball for Greater Manchester County U15 and Manchester Thunder U14’s pathway, with aspirations of one day playing for England!

Congratulations to Niamh and her team on this historic achievement and we hope to have another successful netball talent come through the Hulme ranks!
