Pastoral Care

Hulme Grammar School Secondary 24 276 (1)

At HGS, we understand the importance of a supportive environment for our students, and our pastoral structure plays a pivotal role in providing just that. Whether it’s the friendly face of a form tutor or the guidance from our dedicated heads of year and Deputy Principal Pastoral, we ensure that every student feels known and cared for.

Our small form groups allow us to truly get to know each pupil, offering personalised care and swift responses to any concerns that may arise. Communication with parents is close-knit, ensuring that our students are nurtured in a supportive atmosphere where their wellbeing is paramount.

We recognize that parents prioritise the happiness and wellbeing of their children above all else, and that sentiment resonates deeply within our approach to pastoral care at HGS. Our goal is to nurture each individual student, equipping them with the tools they need to navigate life confidently and successfully. We take our role in providing a flourishing environment seriously, fostering collaboration between our pastoral care team and parents to celebrate successes and provide support during challenging times.

At the heart of our values are kindness, respect, and authenticity. We encourage students to stay true to themselves while embodying these values, empowering them with resilience and fortitude to face life’s obstacles head-on.

HGS is a vibrant, inclusive community where every student is valued and celebrated for their unique contributions. With a dedicated team including Senior Pastoral Leads, Heads of Year, Form Tutors, our Medical and Mental Health Lead, and professional Counsellors, support is always within reach. Our peer mentor scheme, PSHE course, and platforms like Tootoot ensure that students have multiple avenues to seek assistance or advice whenever they need it.

In essence, at HGS, pastoral care isn’t just a service we provide—it’s a fundamental aspect of our ethos, ensuring that every student feels supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.
