Leave a legacy

A legacy gift to Hulme Grammar could support our brilliant students by endowing bursaries, funding scholarships, enabling new buildings or improving facilities, or ensuring that pupils benefit from the full Hulme experience by supporting a range of enriching extracurricular activities.

Legacy gifts ensure that, whatever the future brings, we are in the best position to make a difference, where we are needed most.

Whichever type of gift you choose, it will help shape the lives of our pupils and contribute to our ability to have a profound impact on the community around us. We would be delighted to discuss your wishes, the direction of your gift and the potential impact it could have at Hulme. All information will be treated as confidential, and as we cannot offer financial or legal advice, we recommend you seek independent advice as required.

Of course, your decision is personal and may change, but should you choose to tell us about your intentions, we will be able to thank you and keep in touch in the way you prefer.

Ways you can leave a legacy

There are several types of legacies which you could leave to the School.

A bequest to Hulme Grammar School is free of tax for all UK taxpayers. Tax advantages vary depending on your country of residence, so please get in touch with us or a qualified solicitor to discuss further.

A residuary bequest leaves all or part of the remainder of your estate after other legacies and charges have been met.

A pecuniary bequest leaves a specified sum of money. If you already have a Will, a pecuniary bequest can be added using a codicil. This form of gift is very simple to arrange and can be index-linked to prevent its value from being eroded by inflation.

A specific or non-monetary bequest allows you to leave a gift in kind, such as valuables and works of art or collections, to the School, either on terms that they are retained or that they may be sold. Please contact us in advance if you would like to leave this kind of legacy.

A reversionary bequest leaves your assets to a named beneficiary for their lifetime: for example, your spouse or other dependant. On their death, the whole or a specified proportion will revert to the School.
