Year 7 Scholarship Programmes 2026

A Hulme Grammar School education is deliberately broad and balanced. We are unapologetically academic: our highly qualified teachers know each student as an individual, and our small class sizes ensure that every lesson offers the right blend of stretch, challenge, and support. We are committed to offering students access to an exceptional range of extra-curricular activities, supported by a robust pastoral care system and personal development opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award. By choosing Hulme, parents and carers are investing in an education that fosters the growth and development of the whole child.

Our scholarship programme reflects this ethos, recognising and nurturing exceptional talent across a range of disciplines. The application and interview process for each scholarship is tailored, allowing candidates to demonstrate both skill and enthusiasm in their chosen areas.

For 2026 Year 7 entry, we are offering at least one scholarship in each of the following areas:

  • Academic Scholarship – awarded on the basis of performance in the entrance exam .

  • Sports Scholarship – open to pupils performing at county level, assessed by our sports coaches.

  • Music Scholarship – available to pupils with a minimum of Grade 3, assessed by our music teachers.

  • Drama Scholarship – candidates must audition with a prepared monologue, assessed by our drama teachers.

Much of the vibrancy of our school community comes from the outstanding contributions our students make in these disciplines. Hulme provides exceptional opportunities for talented pupils to further develop their skills and share their passion alongside others who are equally committed.
